Servant Leadership

At First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, we believe leadership begins with service. Our mission calls us to equip people to be servant leaders wherever life takes them.

BOLD HUMILITY

We seek to lead with confidence without assuming we have all the answers. Bold humility makes room for curiosity, honest conversation and the possibility that we may be changed by what we learn from one another.

GENEROSITY

Generosity is more than giving. It means using our time, resources, influence and relationships in ways that promote dignity, fairness and flourishing for others. We seek not only to meet immediate needs, but also to understand and address the circumstances that create those needs.

MISSION LIVING

Faith is lived beyond the walls of the church. Missional living means recognizing that wherever we are, at home, at work, in our neighborhoods, and throughout Atlanta. We have opportunities to participate in God’s work of healing, reconciliation, and transformation.

LEADERSHIP IN EVERY SPHERE OF LIFE

Servant leadership does not require a title. Some are called to leadership within the church. Others serve through civic organizations, schools, nonprofits, businesses, neighborhoods, and public institutions. Some advocate for people whose voices are too easily overlooked. Others quietly build relationships, solve problems, mentor, teach, care, and give. The settings differ. The calling is the same: to use the gifts entrusted to us in service to others.

EQUIPPED TO SERVE

First Presbyterian seeks to help people discover their gifts, deepen their faith, and put both into practice. Through worship, formation, service, relationships, and opportunities for leadership, we are learning together what it means to follow the servant-leader example of Jesus Christ — and to carry that example into Atlanta and throughout the world.
